We have enthusiastically embraced the principles of the circular economy and are steering our company towards this new paradigm based on the logic of reuse and recycling. We apply its principles in all sectors: energy supply, design, waste elimination, use of recycled and recyclable materials, constant ecological updating of the production chain, optimisation of storage and transport. And we require our suppliers to do the same.
The report published by the Institute of Management of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa, following measurement of circularity using the Extended Check-Up Tool, classified us as “Circular”, i.e. a company that has undertaken a well-established circularity journey and has developed a strategic plan with clear and measurable objectives.
In 2023 we achieved 84%, a very positive score that places us among the most qualified and active companies in terms of circularity, both nationally and internationally.

Procurement
We have produced raw material responsible procurement policies for each supply chain and have developed a questionnaire to verify and qualify our suppliers, including from a social and environmental perspective.
Design
Low-temperature cooking for our products and the use of mono-material or recycled packaging significantly reduce the consumption of resources such as energy and water.
Production
We use electricity generated exclusively from renewable sources. We have significantly reduced water consumption and the use of chemicals in our production processes and in cleaning and sanitisation.
Distribution
We demand transport optimisation from our logistics service providers and choose reusable pallets for deliveries.
Consumption
We promote good practices and environmental awareness by providing complete and clear information to consumers and conducting awareness campaigns.
Waste management
We have reduced the percentage of waste generated in the production process and increased the percentage of waste sent for recycling, out of total waste generated.
In 2023 we introduced a new tool for measuring circularity in the seafood supply chain: the Valchiria Tool. The development of a circular and regenerative economy requires the collaboration of all stakeholders involved in the various phases of the life cycle of an asset or the provision of a service. The tool, developed by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and its spin-off Ergo Srl, provides a snapshot of the overall state of circularity in the supply chain and its capacity to generate circular value.
Our supply chain obtained an overall Circularity Score of 35%, obtained from the average of Circularity Scores of nodes analysed in the study
Our supply chain then obtained an overall Capabilities Score of 33%, obtained from the average of Capabilities Scores of nodes analysed in the study.
Our supply chain has thus achieved a Valchiria Rank C, demonstrating its commitment to capacity development and to integrating circularity principles for a systemic transition. Arbi demonstrates its leadership role in its supply chain.
To encourage innovation among our suppliers and to reward companies that have distinguished themselves for their sustainability and circularity efforts, we established the “Valchiria 2024” award, presented to the top three companies (Italfreddo – transport, Orogel – frozen vegetables, and Cabomar – frozen fish) on Thursday, 10 October 2024, during “Dialogues on Nature,” an event promoted by the Blue Resolution Environmental Protection Association and Arbi.
